August 17, 2010 - Malone residents were
greeted by an unexpected sight this morning.
High winds and storms that ripped through
northern Jackson County on Monday night
toppled the town's historic old water tower.
The tower has been a fixture of the town for
nearly 100 years, although it was replaced by
a new tower decades ago. Severe weather
conditions, however, sent it crashing into the
top of a building at Malone Peanut Company.
No one was injured, but the building received
considerable damage.
